hotel review: AC Sants

AC Sants

On my trip to Barcelona last weekend with my Aunt Melinda, we stayed at the AC Sants. I had never stayed at an AC hotel before, and with branches all over Spain this could be a good option for future visits!

Normally when I travel, I have been on a pretty tight budget – staying at hostels or pensiones on occasion. Staying at a full-fledged hotel was a real treat. Here’s some take-away points from the AC Sants:

  • location, location, location: With AC hotels sprinkled throughout the city, why this one? Well, we traveled by AVE and wanted something convenient. The AC Sants is across the street from the Sants Estació – Barcelona’s main train station, as well as access to two metro lines.

  • modern architecture. While not as intense as the W hotels, the AC Sants featured a sleek esthetic in mostly black and white. It had that “cool” feel without trying too hard.
  • rooms with a view. My room had views of Mount Tibidabo and the hills of the north end of the city, and rooms across the hall caught glimpses of Montjuic and the National Art Museum. No complaints here!

  • solid amenities: In-room wifi (yes!!), an amazing shower, a plethora of toiletries, and the best perk? Free access to the drinks in the mini-bar! (I was all about the water since I did my recreational drinking elsewhere – still, so fun!)
Overall, I had a great experience at the AC Sants – the room was big, the bed was super comfy, and the TV with built-in clock was a great feature. The only negative? I am so used to breakfast being included while staying at hostels, it was a bummer to have to pay for a café con leche in the morning.
Where is everyone’s favorite place to stay in BCN?
