the best study break ever.

2 Oct

Yesterday I accomplished a personal best for the number of different areas of LA I spent a substantial amount of time. Bear with me…

My morning began with my Saturday morning run with the LA Leggers. We started by the pier in Santa Monica, but instead of running south into Venice and Marina del Rey, we ran north to Temescal Canyon and into Pacific Palisades. We also ran along Amalfi Dr., which is apparently where Stephen Spielbergh lives – no surprise there, easily the nicest/most desirable location I’ve seen in awhile. After about 9 miles, we were back in Santa Monica!

I planted myself at the Beverly Hills Library, but I took an exciting break in the middle to trek back out sea side to Venice with Whitney! A couple of weeks ago while I was on a run out there, I spotted a sign for Schulzie’s, a bread pudding stand that also just happens to serve my favorite coffee on earth, Blue Bottle! Whitney promised to indulge me on a trip out there, but to make it a more complete culinary trip, she suggested we grab lunch at a nearby stand, Poke Poke. I’ve never had “the surfer’s sashimi” before, but it was unique, refreshing, and not overly filling.

candidly enjoying her bread pudding!

We tried two flavors: White Chocolate Coconut Creme Dream and Banana Chocolate. They were both delicious and oddly refreshing. They’re served cold, so it was almost like a thicker, bread-like ice cream. Nom.

Even though it was warm out, there was no way I was leaving without the goods we came for – Blue. Bottle. Coffee.

the best.

We walked back to our car – which was a pretty substantial walk, and I headed back to the library where I made substantial (ok, almost finished) my first memo! That was exciting. I hustled back home to get ready for my parents to meet me at my apartment so we could go to dinner for my mom’s birthday! Stay tuned for that post…

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!

    Hi Gillian:
Drove past the Jack London Square Blue Bottle today. L-O-N-G line out the door. Are you going to check out the new WeHo library? I read an article that gave it a rave review…

Ah, I’m jealous! Love Blue Bottle, obviously. I am! Planning on going next Saturday to study for my upcoming Property menu. I’m sure I’ll write a post soon 🙂

That bread pudding looks beyond amazing. It looks like such a fun area to live in!

Thanks! I am trying to pretend I’m still living in a place foreign to me so I keep finding hidden gems 🙂

I need to try blue bottle coffee. I’ve never been to SF but I have plans to go later this month and my friend and I are going to try it!

You will LOVE SF. It is so charming – and MUCH easier to manage logistically than LA. You will also love Blue Bottle – go to the one at the Ferry Building (also has a great farmer’s market) along the bay.

I love living vicariously through you. Mark my words – LA will see my within the year 🙂
