remember, remember…

5 Nov

the 5th of November!

I can’t believe it’s already November. Even though law school consumes a good portion of my time, I have been up to some fun things to share with you guys! But first, I want to share some goals I have for November:

1. Spend less dinero. I have been doing pretty well, but every lunch I don’t pack, every happy hour out, and every dinner and drinks with friends adds up. And since I’m not making money right now (yay, school!) it hurts that much more.

2. Eat more meals at home. Sort of on the same token – but my wallet (and my health) will thank me.

3. More greens. I love salads, I just need to be less lazy and actually make them.

I am hoping focusing a little more on these goals will carry me through the holiday season 🙂 (Which, according to Starbucks, started November 1 with their super pre-mature debut of the red cups. #justsayin).

What have I been up to?

Dinner at TART

Last night, Whitney and I hit up a restaurant we’ve both been dying to try – Tart – at Beverly and Fairfax! We notice it once when we were walking to The Grove, and my desire to try it was reaffirmed when I read Katherine’s review!

The first order of business was drinks! Whitney had just gone through a horrendous ordeal waiting for a tow truck for 90 minutes to come help her with her flat tire.

The verdict: not perfect, but they get points for presentation.

Pyramid Hef in an [adorbs] Mason Jar. Blame the foamy top on my inability to pour. Guess I need to go back to college.

We wanted to try a few things, so we ordered a couple of Apps and Zerts!

the Tart salad: pear, blue cheese crumbles, mixed greens, and walnuts.

Pigs go on a date! (bacon-wrapped dates). #SOGOOD

heirloom tomato, balsamic + basil crostini

skillet cookie. incredible.

Overall, we really liked the food (even if it was a little pricey) and it was nice to do something low-key on a Friday night after a busy week!

This morning was pretty great running-wise – I ran my longest distance yet! 14.0 miles with the LA Leggers. I’ve done my fair share of 13.1s, but today was a mini-hurdle mentally in training for a marathon – and it was great! We started at the Santa Monica pier, ran down Ocean Front Walk, and ended up deep in the heart of Marina del Rey. We turned around at 7 exactly (yay for Garmins!) and then re-traced our steps. I glanced at my watch at 13.1 and hit 1:44:57 (basically ties my PR) and rounded out 14 miles at 1:52. It felt great, and my pacing – although not entirely consistent – was right on target with negative splits. I also followed the SR approach and didn’t turn my music on until somewhere after my Garmin hit double digits!

I’m planning on running a couple of 5Ks this months and am also part of Run Eat Repeat’s Pile on the Miles program!

Love this:

My plan for the rest of the day? Foam roll a bit, hit the library, and then tonight I’m going to see Bill Maher do stand-up with a group of friends!

What are your November goals?

I’ve seen that cartoon. Hilarious! Because it’s so true. And the sundae… making my mouth water per your usual.
