two fifty.

24 Mar

It’s hard to believe, but this is my 250th post on this ol’ blog! Weird to think that I’ve kept up with it long enough to actually get to this point.

Anyway, after last weekend’s excitement with my dad’s marathon, the busy-ness and fun rolled into this week as well. While I wasn’t working on a brief for my Legal Research and Writing class, reading a bunch of Torts, or trying to will myself to pay attention in IP, I was bopping around LA a little bit.

On Tuesday, I hopped over to Staples Center for a Kings game! It was my first NHL game and a pretty good time. The game was exciting and the crowd was energetic, although some of the cheers were a little bit lame and riff-raffy, but still I’d go back. Even if a beer was $9.50

go kings.

Wednesday night was equally exciting. Turner Classic Movies was showing a special screening of Casablanca at the Century City AMC. My roommate, Jenn, is a huge movie buff and when she heard I hadn’t seen the movie, she insisted we go. I ended up really liking the film. It wasn’t exactly what I expected – it was funnier and less romantic than I had expected, so I was pleasantly surprised! It was also cool to see some of the famous lines (“Here’s lookin’ at you, kid” and “Of all the gin joints…”) in their original form.

On Thursday, my friend Armita’s mom was in town visiting, so Aviva and I joined them for an insanely delicious dinner at Le Petit Greek on Larchmont Blvd. before studying for a bit at Bricks & Scones. The greek feast was delicious – I didn’t nab any pictures but everything was delectable.

Friday night was epic. After a long day of studying and a quick yoga + weights sesh, it was time to celebrate my law school friend Amber‘s birthday! The night started with a small dinner with a few of Amber’s college friends at corkbar. The prices were great for the food and wine by the bottle, while wine by the glass was a little steeper. I had the tri tip salad which was excellent.

amber and aviva.

can't go wrong with the best beer ever (yes, at a wine bar).

After dinner, we met up with (what felt like) our entire law school section + Amber’s friends from before crim, property, and torts at Casey’s Irish Pub. I enjoyed catching up with some people and getting to know others outside of school. I also enjoyed two glasses of the Point the Way IPA. Deee-lish.

oh hi, section three 🙂

Around 1 am Aviva and I called it quits and headed back home (of course I had to go back into the bar and remember to close out, cool).

Despite last night’s revelry, today was productive – I ran 3 miles relatively fast (8:07, 7:54, 7:33) and didn’t experience any knee pain! I am hopeful that the mix of PT and increased yoga will help my recovery (I am working on a post about where I’m at running-wise).

After my run, I met my friend Brian for brunch at The Village Idiot. He’s in town from SF just for the weekend…and since the last time we hung out was in Vegas, and before that – Madrid, I was stoked to catch up! I had a poached egg, black eyed peas, farro, and kale combo that was pretty delicious, and I NEED to come back here when it’s in bar-mode.

mildly creepy looking, i know.

After brunch, I headed to the library and learned all about “respondeat superior” in Torts, joinder in Civ Pro, and all in all got a solid amount of work done.

The rest of the night is looking like it’ll be low key – maybe some fro-yo in my future. Tomorrow is going to be fun: spin in the morning and then home for my brother’s 21st birthday! Eek!

The last meal you mentioned sounds delicious, but the eggs in that picture most definitely look like a body part I will go without naming here. Most definitely.

Hahah that’s what I thought too. Creepy enough to make it on the blog for sure.
