random recap.

2 Sep

So with the start of school my blogging hobby sort of got shelved to the back-burner. So instead of trying to relay everything I’ve done in the past two weeks, I’d start out with my workout recaps:

Last week:

  • Monday: 4 mile run
  • Tuesday: 3 mile run + NROLFW weight workout
  • Wednesday: 5 mile run
  • Thursday: OFF
  • Friday: Light weights + stairmaster
  • Saturday: 10 mile long run
  • Sunday: 1 mile treadmill w/u + spin class

This week:

  • Monday: Off
  • Tuesday: 3 mile run + NROLFW final workout in stage 3
  • Wednesday: 5 mile run
  • Thursday: OFF
  • Friday: Cardio Barre
  • Saturday: 2-mile Alumni race with my high school cross country team
  • Sunday: Spin + 500 m swim

On Saturday, I was in my hometown for the day, but mostly to run the Alumni Race of the Pancake Breakfast Time Trial. When I was on the team, this was always the first race of the season. It was low-key – it only was against our fellow teammates, it’s a shorter course (just under 2 miles instead of the usual 3.1) and it was always themed and we wore costumes. When I was a senior, I was the captain of the “Princess Jasmine” team. We had teal hair ties and Jasmine bracelets – it was sort of legit. One of my former teammates let me know there was an alumni race this year, so I decided to do it!

The course was as brutal as I remembered – it’s pretty boring. I went out too fast (it’s never good when the first lap of a race any longer than 1-mile is 88 seconds). First mile was 6:30 and my final time was 13:34 for 1.93 miles. I was the first girl/woman in which was fun, and it was great to see my old teammates, friends, and coaches – and to see the team in action now.

That it for now – I’ll be back soon with an overview of how 2L is going so far 🙂

Hope everyone is enjoying the long Labor Day weekend. Mine has consisted of a TON of reruns of The Hills. #bestshowever.
