2.5 L!

15 Dec

Oh hey there blog world! I’m so happy to be back. The last 3 weeks have been completely consumed by studying for finals. The rumors that they’re “easier” 2L year is a total lie. It’s less stressful for sure, but you still have to put the time in. Maybe one of these days I’ll do a “law school survival guide” post. But I have to make sure I didn’t fail all my classes first.

After Thanksgiving I essentially went into lock-down mode. But first, I did manage to take a short break on Dec. 1 to celebrate my BFF’s birthday at a fun brunch at Brick + Mortar in Santa Monica. Their breakfast pizza was bombbbb (thanks for letting me share a slice, Riley!). A bunch of Whitney’s circles collided for her birthday – work friends, college friends, her boyfriend Tyler and his brother…It was a lot of fun, but I’m still bummed I couldn’t partake in the endless mimosa festivities.

IMG_2553Oh, and I loved Whitney’s sweater so much I went out and bought it the very next day. I quickly settled into my study routine. I had Ethical Lawyering on Dec. 4, then Torts II the next day. Then, I had a few days off before my Con Law final on Dec 10, and finished it off with Law of Sales yesterday, Dec. 14.

The library was full of Christmas cheer, which was a nice reminder of what season we’re in.

I kept myself sane by looking for memes tangentially related to my classes…

…and took many Starbucks breaks with my buddies.

My roommate’s birthday fell in the finals time-period as well – we celebrated with a little brunch action at Tart.

Finals were fine…I think. I started getting progressively more delusional as time went on. Evidence? My emoji use increased:

and I literally started to LOSE it. Study sessions turned into giggle fits in the library. Whoops. My studying waned as time went on – I was SUPER efficient and in gunner-mode for Con Law…but by the time Law of Sales rolled around, reading my outline was a little too taxing.

After the first 2 finals, IPAs were imbibed at the local Yardhouse. Also, in the midst of all of this, I was offered the opportunity to apply for a judicial externship for the spring. A professor urged me to do it when I initially hesitated and I went for the interview and was lucky to be offered the externship. I’ll be working for a U.S. District Court Judge next semester which will be a great learning experience. I’m shocked they offered it to me, though, my nerves totally came through in my interview. Never really mastered the “never let ’em see you sweat” mantra.

After my Con Law final we went to Jenn’s birthday dinner at Wood Ranch. DELICIOUS.

While studying for my last final, I took a lot of meme breaks. This is my fav:

I also became BEYOND obsessed with the Zedd album. Get yo headphones on and listen to this immediately. Favorite track? Clarity.

The last couple of days were boring and UCC-filled. I took a nice little study break with Armita and Heather. Love it.

Yesterday’s 70 Multiple Choice exam was lonnnnngggg and tiring. IMMEDIATELY after the test, Taylor and I knocked out an errand. #RAGE? We had to go get finger-printing for externship background check purposes (see above) and had to wait until finals didn’t hog every waking minute of my life. After that, I meandered around Target and came away with 3 things (a sequined miniskirt, a tube of wrapping paper, and the Mindy Kaling book). Delusional much?

I celebrated last night in Manhattan Beach with one of my best law school friends (Blake) his fiancée (and my friend) Heather, and Heather’s best law school friend, Steve. Good times were had by all 🙂 SO stoked for their wedding!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Not so delusional, Mindy would totally approve of a sequined mini skirt!
