In honor of National Running Day, I thought I’d share a post I wrote 3 years ago about how and why I became a runner. In the last three years, I have run 10 half-marathons and 2 full marathons, and have become a stronger and more serious athlete. I love this sport and the running community and am so honored to be part of it.

June 1, 2011 was National Running Day, at least in the United States, so I felt like jotting down some of my thoughts about running and why it’s important to me. A couple of days ago, some of my friends asked me about the sports I did when I was a kid.
